Guests choose Lyon when they would rather not cross a border on a changeover Saturday. The chauffeur waits in arrivals with a name sign, watches the flight so a delay simply moves the pickup, and loads skis and cases before you reach the car. From there it is one unbroken run to the chalet door: no vignette, no customs queue, no change of vehicle.
The road leaves LYS on the A43 towards Chambéry, then runs through Albertville onto the N90 up the Tarentaise to Moûtiers. The last stretch is the D915, some twenty kilometres of switchbacks climbing to 1,850 m. In winter Moûtiers backs up on Saturday mornings and the climb can be salted or snow-packed; winter tyres and chains travel with the car.

Tips for this route
- Tell us which Courchevel you mean: 1850, Moriond 1650, Village 1550 or Le Praz. They sit on different levels of the same climb, and the chalet or hotel name lets the chauffeur reach the right door.
- On high-season Saturdays the Moûtiers bottleneck peaks late morning. Landing before 10:00 or after 16:00 usually clears the valley in about 2h30; a midday arrival can add 45 minutes or more.
- Keep a warm layer, gloves and your boots in the cabin bag rather than the hold. Courchevel is often ten degrees colder than Lyon, and if a case goes missing you can still ski while the airline forwards it up the valley.
- Book the Saturday transfers of the French and UK school holidays several weeks out — that is when both flights and cars fill. Midweek arrivals are easier at short notice, and the TGV station inside LYS is a fallback.
