St. Moritz has no airport of its own, and Samedan next door takes mainly private jets, so most guests land at Geneva and drive. The chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a name sign, tracks the flight so a delay simply moves the pickup, and the price is agreed before you travel. Five hours, one comfort stop, and the day ends at your door in Dorf or Bad.
The A1 runs east across the Swiss plateau past Lausanne, Bern and Zurich, then the A3 and A13 carry you along the Rhine valley to Chur. From there the road climbs the Julier Pass at 2,284 m into the Upper Engadine. The Julier stays open through winter and is our standard line; if the Albula or Flüela shut, we load the car onto the Vereina train from Klosters to Sagliains.

Tips for this route
- Tell us whether your hotel is in St. Moritz Dorf, up the hill, or St. Moritz Bad, down by the lake. The two are a few minutes apart by car but easy to confuse, and the final climb through Dorf is narrow.
- Aim to land before early afternoon. A morning arrival puts you over the Julier in daylight, which is the pleasanter drive and leaves time to reach the hotel, unpack and eat before the kitchen closes.
- Keep a coat, hat and gloves in your hand luggage rather than the hold bag. Geneva can be mild and grey while the Engadine sits above 1,800 m, dry and well below freezing when you step out.
- Book at least a week ahead for Christmas, New Year and the February half-terms; this is a full-day run for one car and dates go early. Tell us then if you need child or booster seats, which cost nothing.

Why not fly straight to St. Moritz?
- St. Moritz has no commercial airport of its own — the nearest airfield, Samedan, is used mainly by private jets. From Geneva the car takes you the whole way in one vehicle, with no change of train at Chur or Zurich.
What happens if the mountain passes close?
- The Julier is kept open through the winter and is the route we plan on. If conditions close it, we take the Vereina car-train from Klosters to Sagliains — the car is loaded onto the train and driven off in the Engadine. Any car-train fee is in your price.
My flight is delayed — will the car still be there?
- Your flight number is tracked and the pickup time moves with it, at no extra cost — worth knowing on a route this long, where a late arrival means crossing the Julier after dark. The chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a name sign.
